Collector vs. Shooter?

Wouldn't the RC K98 bores be shot out and worn?

A lot of the RC's were liberated from storage and therefore not issued or had little use. Also the Russians pulled them *all* apart and just kept the good pieces so in my experience RC's generally have good bores.

Not if the Germans dropped them as fast as the French did.

If I was outnumbered that badly I'd get the Hell outa dodge myself! That said, it's pretty hard to drop them as fast as the French... They ran away from their own tanks!

So would you buy a genuine RC Mauser k98 for $375 or a Yugo M48BO with bayonet, sling etc. for $479?

Now I hear the Yugo M48 has an intermediate receiver size. What advantage/disadvantage is this? How is the accuracy? Are they more robust than the German made ones?

Wouldn't the RC K98 bores be shot out and worn?

Not necessarily. The Russians refurbed them and then issued them. So there will be a range for bore condition. If I didn't buy the M48, I was planning on calling P&S and asking them to pick out the one with the best bore and mechanical condition with little regard for the wood. That should get you a solid rifle that simply needs refinishing. Just that red laquer finish is enough reason to strip and redo the wood, IMO.
