I'm probably going to be applying for a collectors license, as long as it's not too much hassle. I don't know if I'm stupid or just missing it but I can't seem to find the forms I need to apply so I was hoping someone could save me the grief and send me the link thanks!

I could be wrong but I think with the collectors license you allow your home to be searched any time of the day 365 days a year without warning.

Yeah you are wrong, it's like they say a little bit of knowledge can be a bad thing. They can (with your permission and by appointment only) inspect your storage only, not a blanket search. And this has been so rare as to be non existant. Also do you honestly believe that if you do something to attract their attention that they won't be at your door even if you only have one gun. It has happened, but there has always been an underlying reason that draws their attention. I at one time had over 100 guns and have never had a problem. When I got an att for an address move the cfo told me I had a really nice collection and that was it. The primary reason for a collectors permit is if you aren't going to be a member of a club for a while. I went thru a couple of years of inactivity simply because of the distance involved and no ranges in the area. At the very beginning of this new system there was talk that if you weren't a member of a club they were going to make you get rid of your handguns unless you were a collector, myself and a lot of others got it for this reason, but that threat never panned out.

I am registered as a collector. There is no separate licensing involved, as there is in the US. You just have to demonstrate that what you're doing is "collecting" and not just accumulating a bunch of guns. I've had the listing for almost seven years and have never been inspected. But it wouldn't bother me at all if it were to happen. Being a "collector" doesn't get me anything different from any other license holder, but it is what I do with firearms. I do wish that CGN would have a forum for collectors.

Again, info is readily avbl if u want to hit a few keys. RCMP states
When inspecting a firearm collection in a residence, inspectors may only inspect parts of a residence where they can reasonably expect to find firearms and records of a firearms collection. They must give reasonable notice and obtain your consent or a warrant before they carry out the inspection

The form should be on the CFC website, if not,go to MARSTAR's website, they have a copy of it there.
