What's the value of a M4 22 Hornet survival rifle? I have an opportunity to buy one. Looks like this

Don't know much about them but I had read/heard some, if not all, were actually restricted, I believe due to overall length... Not sure if you were aware of that if you didn't know that .22 hornet wasn't a rimfire calibre...

One on EE now. Asking $800 I believe. If it wasn't restricted I'd be interested in a repro, if the price was right.

They're an NFA item (requires a $200 tax stamp to transfer) in the US because of the short barrel - 14"

Up here, I believe they're restricted because they can be operated/fired with the stock collapsed, and an OAL under 26" in that config.

Ask in the MilSurp section, I know there's a few of these guns kicking around, but because of their weird legal status, small numbers produced (under 30K), the fact that the majority were lost or destroyed in military service... they've become quite rare and collectible.

If you have a chance to get one... Jump through the hoops and do it. They consistently fetch $1500 and up south of the border, but probably less up here because of the restricted status, so no shooting outside the range (limited use).

Ellwood Epps had one a couple of weeks ago. I think it sold for around $800. I believe it had a Canadian broad arrow mark, so that likely drove up its value.

this rifle was provided as survival rifles for world war II pilots. they were all made here in CANADA. unfortunately i don't remember who made it.
