When a dealer was clearing inventory of the FMK 9mm (a Glock 19 clone) the pink ones were only $179. So I bought one.

My wife and daughter are not interested in a pink pistol, so I decided to change colour. I assumed it had to be painted, but YouTube showed guys using fabric dye to change colour.

A pack of dye was $3.00 YouTube says RIT is the brand to buy. I bought dark brown.

Preparation consisted of spraying the frame with brake clearer to degrease it, then I scrubbed it in a pan of hot soapy water. (I was tempted to put it in the dish washer.)

I poured hot water in a disposable cake tin, added the dye and then placed the tin on a stove heating element, to keep it hot. Element was not at max. Did not want to melt a hole in the tin. I rinsed it in hot water and dropped it into the dye.

I left in the dye for an hour stirring occasionally. I meant to leave it longer, but wife thought it was some kind of left over mix and dumped it down drain. Surprised when a pistol frame fell out.

Pistol is no longer pink. I sprayed inside with gun lube and silicon on the outside. Functions perfectly. No sign that the dye will wear off.

For my nephew I bought a pink savage raskal that I got a great deal on, this is the most helpful thing the Internet has ever done! It's an art project I can do with his little sister and a gun he can shoot like a man!
