Colorized WW2 Russian Front Photos Part II

Nice! I'll be picking out the shots with SVT's in them.

Interesting to see the pic on page one with the Japanese flags. We don't hear much about it, but the Soviets turned east and started annihilating the Japanese forces after VE day. Imagine sitting there in your Ha-Go, watching a few hundred T34-85s and IS series tanks grinding towards you, while the sky turns black with IL2s and Migs. Had the US not dropped the bomb, I think the Soviets may have won the conventional war in Asia and the cold war globe would have been a lot different.

It wasn't just at the end of WW2 the soviet's were at war with Japan- there were a number of battles they fought against each other early on. I'm sure very few people have heard about that:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet%E2%80%93Japanese_border_conflicts with one famous battle being: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battles_of_Khalkhin_Gol they even made a movie incorporating that battle! A korean WW2 war epic, its actually pretty good IMO :)- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1606384/
