Colour blindness and hunting

I've always had good colour vision. I can miss targets in virtually any shade or hue.

Interesting test - looks like i'm 'normal' - which frankly in my opinion is taking some real liberties with that word...

I just got suckered into allowing a cleverly disguised 'off topic' post, didn't I. You {edited by mods for language}!

Now Foxer, that wouldn't be like me would it???

Actually, when I first discovered the red/green colour blindness years ago, I wondered what it would be like to hunt totally colour blind. I figured it would be something like black and white TV. (I suppose most here don't remember the B&W TV) Deer would have a significant advantage under such conditions.

Well deer are colour blind as well - i guess it would just even the odds a bit.

some mornings are so grey and lightless that you might as well be colour blind... i don't think it would make a huge difference. Maybe for some things..

I hate being CB  I can't even see the number two at the bottom
I can't see guys in orange standing on their watch unless they move or are in flouresent orange
I can't see a deer standing in the open unless it moves  I have walked almost right by them till they take of running, only to wonder WHY I didn't notice them
I can't follow a orange ribboned trail thru the bush unless it's windy enough to keep the ribbon fluttering :? Guys at our camp use blue ribbom if they want me to follow it :)

On the bright side  there is a very good reason why I have become a decent "wing" shooter 8)

Colour blindness must be awesome in the woods. The old man is colour blind and can see deer in the thickest of bush...cause they are red/orange to him. I guess he sees into the infrared spectrum :?:

But he cant see blaze orange 50 feet away.

Dad will walk on point and just point with his rifle...there's one...there's one...Oh look another one over there. But I've seen him nearly trip over guys sitting under a tree wearing hunters orange.

I am partially colour blind to reds and greens. I can't pick out different shades of red and green as easily as some folks.
I'm not sure if it affects my hunting. But at least Orange stands out!

I'm in the same boat as you are...I can't say that it affects my deer hunting, but it does suck for many things

Honest guys I'm safe to hunt with

I always wait to see the outline of an animal before I shoot :)
So unless you have an extremely large NOSE I'll not likely mistake you for a moose

says who the same clowns that my buddies sent 2 teeth from the same moose to and 1 tooth came back as 10 years old bull and 1 as a 4 year old bull

theres some well spent testing funds out of our tax dollars

either that or the moose is taking his time losing his baby teeth
