I have several synthetic stocked guns that all came in black. (None of them are expensive, fine guns.) I thought it would be nice for handling them when out on hot, sunny days to have them in colours that wouldn't heat up so much. I painted their stocks with Krylon's camouflage ultra flat, using solid single colours. Two are in the tan, one in brown, one in olive green. The one I did in green and one of the tan ones have their metal finished in matte black parkerizing. The other tan one and the brown one have glossy blued metal that is almost black. I like them all as they turned out, but I think the olive green stock wouldn't have looked quite right with nicely blued metal, or any gloss metal finish. (I did the brown one first and topped it off with a clear satin matte. I don't dislike it, but didn't feel it was worth the trouble with the rest.)
