Not looking to sell but would like info on this gun from someone who knows about military 1911's

image.jpg

It has a colt slide. frame is marked "United States property M1911A1 US Army"

The serial number is from a ww1 colt.

There is a FJA inspectors mark . Also a partially struck ordinance Dept. Inspection stamp

Is this gun a mix of ww1 and ww2 parts?

Thanks

Yes it is mixed. The 1911A1 didn't exist until the 1920s. Frank J Atwood was an inspector during the WW2 period. The magazine is an earlier one.
The pistol looks very reparkerized.

That was the batch from China?
I brought in 10 of them. One was a rather decent Remington Rand. The others were mixmasters, most badly refinished. They all rebuilt very well.

If I recall right they came from Europe but I could be wrong .
At the time I spent a lot of time at a local store in Surrey & they purchased a bunch from Lever .
We went through them & picked the cream of the crop for our self's and sold the rest in store .
There were Colt's , R Rands , Ithica's , I even remember seeing a Singer & Union Switch & Signal .
Wish I would have picked the Singer !
