The *Onstar antenna from Colt.

"Hello Onstar."
"My 1911 jammed."
"OK, help is on the way. I'm sending an ambulance."
"Ahhhh! I give up! I give up!" bang bang bang
"Hello? Are you there? Hello?"

Gotta be (?) for a heavy duty rear sight with that size of dovetail. Or for a mount that holds a red dot sight like a Burris Fast Fire/Speed Bead? Boy I wouldn't want to get hammer bite looking at the teeth on that hammer!

Ok I got the dovetail size :) Now how to I get the hight I need?? would it be the hight of my front fixed sight??

thank you so much for the help this is my first 1911 project pistol and its being a nightmare :(

I dont care what it is as long as it fits... Adjustable would be nice ..dots, lines, fibre optic.. I can care less as long as it does not shoot high or low

The fixed front sight on my colt 1911a1
Fixed front sight is between 0.315-0.320" high my caliper is kinda crap

Looks like a Novak cut to me as well. Contact them with your pics and dimensions, and they should be able to provide rear sight options and recommended front sight heights. .315 should give you lots to work with.

I dont want to replace the front i did not even want the back one cut but the fellow i got this slide from had no idea it was cut ... Novak makes a standard .325 is that the correct hight ??

For each of their rear sights, they'll specify a front sight height. Once you find out which of their rears fit your cut, they'll tell you the proper front. .315 seams fairly tall to me so you should have enough to file down to the proper height.

I dont want to file any thing down I want it to be as close to factory as possible .. I dont see the reason to even add a sight later on if you cant hit the papper with a set of factory sights you should not own a firearm and just give them to me :) ..... I think i will just order the standard one and see how it goes ...if not i will have a custom one made up thanx for all the help

Well it seems that this dovetail was cut to a sight that is not in existence its .532"

the front fixed was changed to a super high 0.315" the slide is useless no one can fix it not armco not dark no one... it would cost me 3 x what it is worth to fix it and repolish the blue`d

should this be a good cause for a refund? I would make it right if it was me selling it to some one knowing or not..He claims to not have knowen it was cut yet owns another slide and another .45

Some people buy or trade parts & don't always know the history of them before it became theirs. However it really sounds like the seller should take the slide back & give you a refund even if it is just a good will gesture.
