Wow i can not believe all the knowledge on these forums.I've only been on the forums for a few hours and had no idea.I've got a Colt 1911 rail gun that wont release the mag unless i push up slightly on the bottom of it.just thought someone might have a suggestion.Thanks.

Mag release may be 'sticky', take the gun to gunsmith who knows 1911s, shouldn't cost you more than $20 (more like $10 or less) to fix it, unless the release is FUBAR.

thanks.it only does it with a loaded mag with action forward.action back and it drops out fine

Quick check for you can do is to remove mag release and check for a burr on the part that fits in the notch on the mag

yeah it sounds like the mag release may be worn out and has a notch that locks into the ridge of where it contacts the magazine, so when downwards pressure is applied (action forward) you cant push the release button. Which would explain why it works when you push it up aswell. Dremel should fix that

If I am understanding you correctly when you insert a fully loaded mag when the action is closed/in battery the mag is hard to pop out but if the action is locked open/out of battery the mag falls out.

Is a fully loaded mag hard to lock in when the action is closed?

What happens if you remove one round so that everything is not jammed together (bullets/springs/mag body) when the action is closed?

If your having these issues with a loaded mag and not when it isn't loaded it sounds normal to me...

:)
