That is a beautiful 1911.
Cars and guns, apples and oranges.
With due respect, you posted your pictures to show the gun off and garner comments. It's was a very nice and rare gun, but I believe that if you have a collectible gun in used, honest WW2 condition, and the same gun right next to it that has been refinished, the original will garner more from collectibles. That's been my experience. Refinished guns sell for less than original finishes.
In any case, it is your gun, you are collecting it and as such are free to do what makes you happy. Enjoy!
By the way, what kind of bluing is that and who did the work?
Even better looking (and more valuable!) now!!
The back site fixed by hole filled in weld and hand filed and hand polish no numbers recut or recut by laser. So all numbers and pat dates are original The finish is Rust bluing done five or six times or more to get desired finished all by hand. Cured in a sweat box and light bulb . Close to what was used in 1912 guns
The gun had damage to slide and little or no blue left and never was presented as a high end collector If the slide did not need repair Would have left it alone .The Colt is a Original Model US Navy that has been restored correctly and As I said before these guns correctly restored sell for about 7 thousand US Dollar But this is not USA so its value is about half that
The value before repair is about the same as now Just looks a lot better and was not repaired to deceive any buyers in the future This post is open to the public .. For the record I have never seen another Model US Navy In Canada.. Gun was repaired by Gun Smith Leo Cormier from New Brunswick who spent 100 hrs plus to make her shine again

I did not say my gun was worth seven thousand I said half that Bottom line the gun was a mess and has been restored and they do not exist in Canada I use to buy Colts for 500 bucks at one time .This gun has no were to go but up in price in time . Most 1911 should be left alone but some need to be refinished
