Blanket statements about Series 70 and Series 80 Colts cannot be made. Why? My Series 70 Government was beautiful but it never ran well. It spent a lot of time with good gunsmiths and it was still a POS. On the other hand, my Series 80 Gold Cup has been flawless. Regards, Richard![]()
The old Old OLD colts were spectacular for fit and finish.
Some of the Colt 1911 pistols, as in PRE 1911 A1, and POST WAR [ and that would be WW 1 ] were better finished on the inside, than recent Colt Gold Cups are on the outside.
These days, there are better choices out there.

The WWI Colts have a finish to die for. Yes, as I always say, I wish I owned this one. Regards, Richard

How does the fit and finish, or just overall quality, of Colt 1911s compare to the other big names on the market (i.e. Kimber, STI, Springfield, etc)?
Thanks!
