Does anyone know how much a Colt 1911 as issued to military personal in W.W.II in fair condition (working) would be worth, a ballpark figure?????????????

Hi Skinny, I have been browsing the boards the last couple weeks trying to find an original for myself, although I'm looking for a collector, not shooter, if you are lucky enough to find one expect:

Original's seem to go between 800-1400, if they are rare versions could be significantly more.
And mix-masters (Where parts have been switched, or re-finished) 500-800, there may even still be some in EE.

If you plan on doing shooting, wouldn't reccamend an original.

They are more expensive in the United States because the demand is higher.
Good luck! Still learning a lot about these myself.

I would be interested if anyone knows good sources right now.

I very much depends on condition, if all the parts are Colt (manufacturer parts were often mixed when a pistol can in for repair or refurbishment - affectionately called 'mixmasters'), if the serial number on the frame matches the one on the slide, if all the parts are correct (including grips) for the unit and period.

Due the firearms situation in Canada, and the fact they can't be sold back into the US, they generally go for less here than they would south of the border. Prices (depending on the above) can therefore range from $500 to $1200 (or more). The same pistols in the US would up to $2000 (or more).

Most of these are considered vintage are are seldom if ever used as regular shooters.

Hi Skinny, they sure do! There are lots of nice 1911 replicas and commemoratives, the Colts tend to be pretty expensive new (1000+ but they are real nice) and other companies like Norinco have made some cheap ones. Check out the Colt Manufacturing website for more details! -Steve

Thanks for the help, I have heard of Norinco don't know much about them. Do they make a 1911 clone that looks like the real deal and how much are they going for????
