Colt 1911

I'm starting to work on building up a 1911 but it's been a long time since I did one--where are the best/most reliable sources for parts in Canada or sources out of US that are easy to deal with--I am just looking for the basic stuff--springs, match bushing/barrel, links/pins.

Look up. The Shooting Edge, ARMCO, Freedom Ventures are some Canadian sources.
www.brownells.com, www.kingsgunworks.com are a couple of good sources. Last I heard Wilsons didn't ship to private buyers in canada but that may have changed.
Stuff like barrells will require Import/Export forms. I would try the guys above and see if they can get stuff in and save you the hassle.

Brownells is assume

Get them to send you a catalogue it is a lot easier to pick from than the web.

They have an incredible amount of stuff for the 1911. As for export restrictions they have been relaxed there is no need to keep an order under 100 bucks.
