Here is my Colt Model 1909 USMC .45 double action revolver Colt serial number 23114 and USMC serial number 14. It was 1 of 100 in the first shipment made to the USMC Depot Quartermaster in Philadelphia on May 26 1909. I found this Colt Archive letter for another Colt 1909 USMC revolver included in the first 100 gun shipment. The letter notes that the butts of the 100 revolvers were marked with USMC No 1 thru USMC No 100 so my revolver was number 14 in this shipment. The Colt Model 1909 was a double-action revolver adopted by the U.S. Marine Corps in 1909, featuring a .45 caliber chambering. A total of 1,300 units were produced, making it a significant military sidearm of its time.
Overview of the Colt Model 1909
The Colt Model 1909 holds historical significance for the U.S. Marine Corps.
Adoption — The U.S. Army sought a more powerful sidearm after the Philippine-American War, leading to the adoption of the Model 1909 in .45 Colt caliber.
Production — A total of 1,300 Colt Model 1909 revolvers were manufactured for the Marine Corps, with production starting in May 1909.
Last Military Issue — It was the last military-issue revolver chambered in .45 Colt.
The Colt Model 1909 remained in service for many years even after adoption of the new Colt Model 1911 semi-automatic. I wonder if some officers still preferred the old reliable revolver over the "new-fangled" semi-autos!1791556552239.png

It's in great shape, better than mine. Mine was converted to 45 Colt at some point.
Which is why I bought it, value was down... the cartridge is more usable though.
IMO.
No disrespect intended
