Colt 6920's increasing in value ?

Colt LE6920 is Colt's 'civilian' 16" barreled M4. The 6921 is the same gun but with a 14.5" barrel.

When it was in the same price range as competition, it was the first choice if available. However, paying $2500 for one is borderline nuts unless you've got money to burn.
 
Have there been any LE6921's imported into Canada? That is one desireable gun. A true civvy M4 without the goofy 16" barrel..
 
16" is hardly goofy. It makes sense for a lot of shooters in Canada who take training or compete in the US. I know I'm taking a TR class and another next year and I'll need a 16" AR going with me.

If this isn't a factor for you, the 6921 is cool-to-have.

For once in my life, I think I got a good deal.
Just bought, and have in my posession, a 6921...saw it in the rack...asked to
see it...was in on consignment...took it apart and it was all genuine Colt!
Had some spare dough and bought it on a whim.
I've got an Armalite 10.5" that does everything an AR should do, but had always had a hankering for the 'real deal'.
And no, I don't want to flip it and make a killing on it...it'll stay in the 'keeper' part of the locker unless I need the cash.

Not slagging, just don't see the value in having an out of spec rifle with a certain rollmarking, over an on-spec rifle from the same production line, with a different marking. And having to pay more for the out of spec one. Why would I ever want to pay for extra parts like offset bushings, nonstandard pin trigger groups etc. when I could get the ones that use the standard sized ones.

It ain't slagging, it's just pointing out certifiable facts.

With all due respect to Greentips and his opinion, I have my choice of all of these and I continue to choose the LMT... so does the US military (various branches). The product they sell to the civilian market is the same as that being supplied to their law enforcement and military contracts (unlike our friends at Colt). In my personal opinion the Colt is overpriced and over-rated, especially the product being sold to the civilian market.

I have approved Export permits for LE6920 Colts... the problem is getting them. Colt isn't shipping much to any of the civilian distributors these days... most distributors are on "Allocation" and haven't seen product in a while. The few that have them had limited numbers and put exhorbitant prices on them... and get it... so trying to buy some at a "reasonable" price has become futile. If you're willing to pay the extreme prices that are being asked, then we already have approved permits for them and can quickly bring one in for you.

As for the LE6921's... State Department will not approve export permits for civilian end-users. They have made that very clear in writing. Those that initially got into the country came in prior to that policy going into effect and/or came in as law enforcement units that got "re-directed".

How does one tell what model number of Colt AR one owns? I have a Colt Sporter II that is maked AR-15 A2 Sporter II on the lower, but it has A1 rear sights, 20 inch 1/7 barrel, bayo lug, round handguards, and no case deflector.

LMT only sells "complete" rifles to military and law enforcement contracts. For their civilian distributors they sell the gun as component parts. There are a variety of reasons for this... one being the elimination of the FET tax charge in the US. This helps keep the cost down for US retail dealers and make the gun more price competitive.

If you purchase a complete LMT upper and complete LMT lower then you are effectively getting a finished rifle... but because it's shipped to us separately it is not defined as a rifle and LMT doesn't have to charge us the 11% FET (manufacturer's tax) that they would otherwise have to charge for a complete rifle.

All exports guns out of the US are exempt from the FET, and the buyer even if he is charged for them can apply to get the FET back.

Quite true... but the question was why LMT doesn't show complete rifle on their website for civilian purchase.

The cost to apply for the FET rebate and the wait time (months) usually eats up a good portion of the rebate itself. Added to the fact that some companies don't even want to get involved in the rebate let alone the export process at all.

In many cases we can't recover the FET... especially where the product has not come directly from the manufacturer (ie: purchased through distributors), since we can't actually prove that the FET was ever paid in the first place.

Three.

SP-1, AR15A2, and a Match HBAR. Aside from the lighter grey finish and a pony on the side, they ran no better than my Armalite or even my Dlask, for that matter.

If I bought another, it would be a stag. They reportedly use the same forgings anyhow AND use standard pins on all models, unlike Colt who doesn't trust us civies.
