Both are classic American made .44 magnums. Which do you prefer?

I do like Colt revolvers but..........if you're buying the revolver as a 'collector' I'd say Colt all the way. As a 'shooter' I'd opt for the S&W. Why? Because if you ever need to have work done on it there will be many 'smiths out there who are familiar with S&W's. I have a friend who had his Colt King Cobra rendered useless in DA by a local 'smith who claimed he knew Colt revolvers.....:(

I want one.

Not being made by Colt anymore, the Anaconda has all the good looks and features that make it an outstanding gun. Just like the Python or the Diamondback. Anaconda's are infinitely more rare too. Try and find one. Colt made less Anaconda's than even Diamondbacks.
As a general shooter, the S&W has a better trigger only.

I have a 625 & Anaconda in .45 rather than .44.

Anaconda is a larger & stronger gun than the S&W, more on the scale of the Redhawk.

If you are planning to fire large quantaties of .44 mag, I would track down a 5-1/2" Redhawk rather than either Colt or S&W.

If you are looking for collector "cachet" with limited heavier loads, go with the Anaconda.

If you are going for a "packin' pistol" go with the Smith.

The Colt is a larger & stronger frame & cylinder, while the S&W has better lock work. One of those 6 to 1/2 dozen deals...

rfo1, Those are beautiful pictures...;) As much as I love the Smith revolvers, I had to vote for the Anaconda - just because I have never owned one. :)
