I have a very nice Colt Trooper from the mid 60's. 6" barrel. I've had it for about a year and a half. Has always had a very nice bore. Just today I was giving it a clean for fun, and was shocked to see that about 1" from the muzzle it looks like a rough patch has developed in the muzzle with a nasty looking ring/ ridge in the bore. Ran a bore snake and a brush down, didn't do a thing. Worried about what this is and the effects it will have on the accuracy. Tried to get a picture, but couldn't get a good one.

You might have got a bullet stuck near that point and shot it out with the next one.
Shooting alot of light loads? Might not have heard it.

A squib ring is a bulged bore due to a squib load getting stuck in the bore, and another round fired afterwards causing pressure to stretch a ring into the barrel.

No getting that out...
