Here's my latest project that's slowly taking form. Upper and lower were bought here at different times. I think the two halves are contemporary being about the same period. I finally tracked down a front pivot pin in .315" so I can ditch my makeshift pin. It has no bolt group and I am unable to find one of any type. None in Canada? Any opinions on bolts or colts would be appreciated. Cheers

Transformation almost done, couch is the same.
A1 butt stock
A1 grip
A1guards
3 prong flash hider
FA bolt group
20 round mag
LET THE GAMES BEGIN

emmab, you awesome sonuva#####, the project you are doing is also something I'd planned to do some day. Make a 60's era M16E1 replica. Either by finding a way to purchase one, or build it myself. How did you manage to track down the triangular handguard? Also, is the flash suppressor same design or one of the more common ones on the market now? Keep up the good work, I'm sure you'll track down a bolt assembly soon enough (worst case scenario is you'll have to buy a cheap AR model (or complete upper) and use it's bolt).

Cool beans!

Thanks. I got most of the stuff off the EE. The slabside upper wasn't a choice at the time. The flash hider is the older style 3 pronger. I don't know about an older butt stock but this is the one without the trap door and it's a bit shorter. I ended up with a colt bolt group with the full auto carrier. I know it's not totally correct, it's just a different look and 100% Colt. It sure is light. Cheers

Yeah I know it needs some work and I'm tempted to try and do it totally correct but I haven't even fired this one at all and it's taken many months to get this far. So maybe I'll try and put together another upper. What are the chances of finding all the parts? 1/12 pencil bbl? Flat collar? Triangle charging handle? Green furniture? Colt? Then after all that it's an AR not an M16, still only semiautomatic. But it is still fun to do. Kinda like building a plastic model without the glue. Hey there Demon, I know that sig line, as I'm sure you do,IIRC when it was associated with the Winnipeg Rifles known as the "black devils" the latin reads "The enemy knows our name" or "known by the enemy". That's great I actually have a CEF badge from that battalion. Cheers
