Based on what Matt K has posted, you can expect better from the 15.7 out to 300. Beyond that external ballistics start to lean in favor of more MV and the 20inch.

I also understand the IUR gives really good accuracy, hopefully that will be released. I know some of my friends really want that over the more conventional rifle offered to date. I gotta say I am tempted by the idea of an IUR upper.

I don't mean to thread hijack here...but I'm kinda gonna anyway.

I've been informed by a dealer of the Dimeco rifles (not a site sponsor) that the ones being sold to the public DO NOT have the same chrome lined, hammer forged barrels that Colt Canada is known for and puts on it's Mil versions. I found this quite shocking, especially with the ridiculous price tag Colt Canada has put on them. Can anyone confirm or deny this fact???

Sounds like it contradict what Matt K has said in the Colt Canada section.

I can. It's simply not true. This has been asked an answered here before. The barrels are identical in every way to the C7 barrel. The barrels are cold rotary hammer forged in Kitchener, and have all the same MILSPEC coatings that the military rifles get. The only difference in the barrel is that we manufactured them with an extension that has M4 style feed ramps so they would be compatible with a wider range of commercial ammunition.

Perhaps your dealer should contact Colt Canada for the real information before spreading rumours.
 
I've heard unsubstantiated rumors to the same effect. Given that Colt Canada reputation is for making some of the best AR pattern rifles in the world, I can't see how it would make sense for them to offer an inferior product under their name. It would cast into question the quality of all of their products, for ALL of their customers.

I understand the idea that a manufacturer could cut corners to save a buck and increase profits but I think Colt would see that as a short term, small gain with a risk of jeopardizing a lot of future sales to significant clients.

It's funny how we haven't heard rumors (at least I haven't) that other respected manufacturers such as DD, LMT and KAC are selling lower quality offerings just to grab a few more $$$.

I thought the same thing. That being said, it doesn't even logistically make sense when you already produce your own barrels.
 
I would rather see a stainless barrel option than the chrome lined barrel alone. I understand the benefits but do not want the negatives.
 
I hope to have my SA 15.7 in a week or 2. It's going to be my first AR type rifle. Surely not my last.
