Recruiting holds info sessions that you have to attend before you can write the test.
After you write, it takes a while to get the results. If you score well enough, then you get a package to fill out with all your life history and info.
Then after that you do medical testing, and the physical test(which is easy).
After all that, you get an interview and they do a background security check on you. If it all goes well, you're off to Depot for 6 months.

The process can take a while, but things are speeding up due to the urgent need to hire more members because of the senior guys retiring, and others leaving for municipal forces.

So do you have to be a genius to qualify?

To continue the hijack, I could care less if the cops are Mensa members. Common sense and an ability to deal with the public in a calm professional manner are more important than raw intelligence. Textbook level knowledge of the CCC and relevent acts is a wonderful thing, so long as you're not Rainman the Cop.

Don't get me wrong, there is no place in this world for a stupid cop, but there are a lot of qualities on my list that I'd use to prune the candidates.
