Looking for advice... have a Colt Canada upper and lower for a build, and need a BCG.

A Colt Canada BCG makes obvious sense... but so pricey.

Is it sacrilege to look at something else? Can I get something that’s even better for less that the $400 the CC ones seem to be going for?

Thanks guys

I am in the same predicament as you with a CC upper and lower. Was considering a CC BCG but can't seem to justify $400 for what seems to me as average mil spec BCG that says Colt Canada on it. Decided that either the BCM or Radian will be my choice.

Already ditched the CC charging handle for a Radian Raptor anyway so it's not like it's going to be a 100% Colt build to begin with.

Short answer is if it will bother you not having all original parts then go with a CC. If you don't care, there are better options available IMO for less money.

Personally I would stick with a CC BCG. The BCG is the heart of the gun so to build using CC receivers and not a CC BCG seems wrong. If you keep your eyes on the EE you are bound to come across one or even a surplus Diemaco. I snagged my CC BCG off the EE for under 200$ so if you are patient, great deals can be had

While I agree, always buy a quality BCG, there are numerous brands that make quality ones.
I run BCG’s from LMT, Noveske, AAC and Lantac, but have used Colt USA, CC, DD all without issue.
If the brand has a reputation of building quality parts, you’ll be more than fine.
Just don’t go thinking an NEA bolt carrier is a good idea and you’ll be fine.

For practical use I don't think there is a difference. Bolt breakage is a bit a thing of the past, the US industry collectively seem to have figured things out some years ago, especially after the GWOT has dialled down.

But if it annoys you and it doesn't make you sleep well, you should buy the one that makes your feel good. It is a toy, so buy things that make you happy. Making myself happy is the reason I buy guns that I want. It is 100% legit and sometimes you don't need bloody logic for it!

better options? Doubtful. Can you get comparable performers for less? Absolutely.

OP

BCM or DD makes comparable BCG for less. LMT has good M16 BCG at a great price. CC is excellent but they aren't the only one.

Talk about sacrelige. I’ve been using a Norinco bcg in my CC rifle build for a few years. Friggin thing runs like a clock. Never had a hiccup. I had one on hand and threw it in.

Arms East has an attractive price on their nickel-boron Stag BCG’s.

Edit: I stand corrected, they appear to not have them listed anymore, at least in right hand; they still have left-hand nickel-boron BCG’s. Looks like they have the standard M-16 BCG’s though.

Colt Canada bolts are rated to 30,000 rounds stress test where as US Mil Spec bolts are rated to 15,000. That's why Diemaco and later Colt Canada marks their bolts MPD/MPCC. I Honestly can't see most shooters running their #### hard enough to really stress them that much, US Spec or otherwise. As has been started, most suppliers are willingly making their stuff to a higher standard now so I think if you even got a M16 contract overrun bolt and resealed the gas key you'd be fine and dandy. If authenticity is what you want though, that's a personal decision that I'm sure no one would judge you for haha.
