Colt Canada "blem" IUR uppers

in 2014-2015, Colt Canada sold off a bunch of IUR uppers through their deals for a very good price. These uppers were sold as potentially containing a minor cosmetic blemish.

Because this keeps coming up again and again on the EE, can anyone who purchased one of these uppers tell me if they could actually find a blemish?

I bought one, and it had absolutely no cosmetic issues what so ever (unless microscopic in nature, or concealed under the forearm). It was perfectly brand new in every respect, without defect. I suspect most, if not all, contained no blemish. Looking to confirm.

Brother in-law has one and we looked at it very closely and didnt find anything

Mine had a small ding on one of the raised part of the rail, not an issue for me, I'm function over form type guy.

Mine was virtually perfect. The closest thing to a blemish was a 2-3mm circular, lighter colored area on the barrel.

Mine had no blemish at all.

Mine had 2 tiny marks that were so small that you probably couldn't see them unless pointed out.

So, there were some actual blems, just tiny ones thus far...

Mine has a minor machining error on the front end of the picatinny rail, I think I got one of the worst ones. Haven't seen a significant issue on one yet.

mine had a tiny scratch on the underside of the 3 o clock rail at the front.


Very tiny.

mine had some type of mess up on the forward assist "housing" like raised pieces on the anodizing.

I was theorizing the same thing - a contract overrun or something of the sort, blown out a low prices and advertised as blems to justify the low prices... but it would appear some actually were blems, although minor in nature

I think many of the blemishes occurred when they were shipped back to Canada in pretty crap packaging.

Doesn't sound like too much that might not be found on any new firearm if examined closely enough...

Had one I sold awhile back. Two small dings on the quad rail.

I'd have inflicted worse if I ever used it, especially for a CQB match.

That's what I heard. Allegedly they were made and shipped to Denmark on spec. The Danes ended up not exercising the option, and they were shipped back. Apparently they weren't packed perfectly and suffered a few dings.

Maybe not true, but my source usually knows what he's talking about.
