You can attach KAC covers to these. They do not have the recessed notches cut in the rails like the KAC rails, but the two forward side rails as you can see have holes cut beside the #34 and the KAC rail covers will lock into them.

The other trick you can do with KAC covers on rails that do not have the cut for them is to position them then take a screwdriver or Gerber and pry up the spring lock in the center until it clicks. The spring clip will lock in place quite securely. Your not going to move the cover. To remove, again use a screwdriver or Gerber and pry up the spring lock till it pops off.not the way they were designed to be used, but it works and the covers can be used on a non KAC rail.
Photo below, the KAC cover is locked to the rail. You can see the spring clip has been pryed up, and it's locked.
A couple of 4 rib and a single 6 rib work nicely.

So I got the chance to look at both long and short uppers closely.
It appears that barrel behind gas block is 0.85 to 0.87" ish in dia. They are essentially the standard C8 barrels that they have been making. The 15.7 is essentially a UK C8 SFW barrel stuck in an IUR. It retains the same barrel sleeve which gives it the thick appearance, including the inverted crush washer.
The gas block is the same as the MRR - it is not like the Danish gas block that was pinned down. They are now fitted with 2 set screws at the bottom, even though the IUR still retains two holes that appear to be for gas block pinning.
My guess is that the IUR will end up the same weight as C8 SFW with RAS. It doesn't have the reinforced gas block for mounting HK GL, but the hand guard is much longer.

Your partially correct. Yes, the latest batch arrived with just a STD Colt Canada charging handle, not the Ambi and we reduced the price to reflect this. Perhaps some other dealers did not.
