Colt Canada Green Furniture

as a guy who works at a unit with over 90 C8A3s, and 30 C8FTHB(black furniture) they are not painted. We do have some green ones with tan paint on them and some black ones with white paint, they were used in Afghanistan and winter Ex. Some soldiers paint their guns, #### happens.

I shouldn't say most. Some are painted green. I know in Edmonton they ran out of green carbine handguards, so they painted them green.

They released the guns at a price most Mil couldn't afford so I wouldn't worry about there being a huge run on the furniture before they open it up to civilians. Just like the rifles, most of this "show of appreciation" will go to civilian collectors/shooters that can afford them.

I am guessing you have not been comparing T4s with serving members lately.

exactly, even a first year private before tax makes 2600 a month, after 2 years plus a day is 4100 a month. The reason half the military couldn't afford it is because they finance all their #### through Canex and then complain they can't afford to feed their 4 kids with a Dodge 4x4 out front and a 60" tv in side.

I agree that we dont make a bad wage. However, if you live in Pet, you're going to pay over $250,000 for a basic house, your wife will have a ##### of a time getting a job and if you happen to have a couple kids and/or get posted to a unit where you dont recieve LDA you're going to be hard pressed to afford $2000 guns....So suggesting that CC is offering us any deal as a "show of appreciation" is a load of bovine scatology. Hence most of these guns going to civilian collectors. If you look back in the "OMFG Civ C7/C8!!!!" threads there are not a lot of cops or soldiers biting for these rifles/carbines. There is a reason for that.

You obviously dont have a mortgage and 2 kids. I have to work a 2nd job on weekends to pay for my Gun hobby... I have no debt, and no sh!tty canex plans. 60K a year is peanuts my friend.

Our pay is great if you are single with no kids. ( I remember those days ) :p

1 mortgage and 1 kid, I got snipped afterwards. It's called financial management.

Im snipped as well :) , I still cant just drop 2K whenever I feel like it, We don't make enough for that. and Lucky me I just got posted again to Victoria ( 4 weeks ago ) where I can't even afford a condo let alone a house. So im stuck in a Sh!tty PMQ for 3 years until my next posting.

Now the wife is still trying to find another Job thats not a dead end min. wage. I went from a 400$ mortgage payment to a 1265$ PMQ payment.

So yeah Financial management is easy to say when you get phucked over every 3 years and have to start over.

Reserve privates make about $45 a parade night (once a week), though most of them are students, live at home or have day jobs....

How do you think those of us that live here permanently feel - pay here (civilian pay) is comparable to pay elsewhere in Canada (and generally less and less reliable than that in the CF), but my money doesn't buy what it would in Manitoba. The only place worse is Vancouver - where everything costs 10-20% (at least) more than here in Victoria.
