Colt Canada Information Thread

Sure, but at the same time I wonder why someone would question if a military firearm has a commercial or mil spec buffer tube? I know, there's no such thing as a stupid question but some things are obvious if you give it some real thought.

I couldn't help but smile at that too. when these rifles first came out, they were supposed to pretty much be clones of the issue rifle, minus the fun switch, slightly different bcg, and different charging handle, sling plate and roll marks...other than that, identicle, ie "mil spec".

Well as the saying goes, Better safe than sorry!
Especially when your buying an after market buttstock that is produced in both milspec and commercial.

But thanks Fenceline for the answer, all the others, not so much.

Correct, nothing wrong with your question but your negative response to yohann160 is what prompted me to respond. He did actually answer the question and it wasn't sarcastic. If you didn't understand what TDP means you could have asked for clarification. Anyways, that's all I will say.

Hey folks I am waiting on my CC SA15 , should have it by next Fryday :) Anyway in regards to the handguard, will any guard fit? I'm thinking of a railed one but am not sure if I need to buy any extra parts or just the handguard. And is there any pics around with different handguards. Thanks

because of the barrel thickness, not all railed handguard will fit.
KAC RAS and Surefire M73 fits. Pretty sure DD would fit too

image.jpgCouldn't find the m 73 or the KAC ras for sale in canada. But idid see a DD on Brownells for $250 US or about $320 CAD.At that price Maybe I'm better off to save a few more bananas and get the IUR.

Or check Fireguy add in the EE:Knight's Armament RAS quad rail system, carbine length with rail covers; not free-float; excellent condition; $215

There is also a Surefire M73 for 165$

Well looks like Canada day was the release date for the Colt Canada/Diemaco stripped lowers. They will supposedly have the "D" logo, maple leaf and 5.56mm markings w/o the SA ## laser etching on them. A total of 12 dealers will have stock. Delivery started today. I don't have the units available per dealer at the moment and or total available. MSRP is $319.95. Here's a list of CGN sponsors that will have them for sale pretty soon:

SFRC - The Ammo Source
Al Flaherty's Outdoor Store
Lanz Shooting Supplies
Select Shooting Supplies
Wolverine Supplies
Target Sports
Calgary Shooting Centre
Wanstalls
Reliable Gun

Fun fact... With these lowers not having a laser etched "SA20" or "SA15.7", the specific model is unknown. I've asked Select Shooting Supply what model designation they have, and SSS says "none".

For any firearm to have an FRT, a make and model is required. Not saying this doesn't have an FRT, it certainly does. But without any specifics, the stripped semi auto CC lowers could foreseeably be one of any of the restricted semi auto variants that Colt Canada produces.

Why is this cool?

There are several AR15 based model designations produced by Colt Canada and Diemaco brands that are semi auto only with restricted classifications.

They are:
C7A1, C7A2, C7CT, C8 CSC SCC, C8A1, C8A2, C8CT, CQB, IUR, SA15.7, SA20, SFW, and the C10.

Yes, all of the above names are semi auto restricted. And not all of them were shipped from CC with any sort of model number associated.

Making these new, stripped lowers a pretty good start for a legit C8A2 or similar build.
