Colt Canada IUR Cry Babies

Who cares if the price comes down.....it might get more people on board...which makes for a stronger head count owning restricteds. At the end of the day, boo hoo to anyone wanting to keep value. Think of the bigger picture and less about yourselves. That's a prime reason why they are restricted now.....cause everyone was thinking about themselves instead of the group back then too.

actually, the gvt strongly was on the mind of prohibiting the ar15 only the dominion of canada rifle association strongly lobbied and the gvt restricted them instead.

The ar15 in canada is actually a symbol of people thinking of the gun community as a whole and fighting to gain the use of it. The ar15 was going to be prohibited until the dcra lobbied successfully to have it made restricted instead. Otherwise no one would have it.

Many current AR owners are completely unaware that the AR-15 went from non-restricted to prohibited overnight in the early 90s and it was only moved to restricted after exhaustive lobbying. The DCRA certainly played a major role in saving the AR-15 in that respect. However, David Tomlinson and the National Firearms Association also played a significant role in successfully lobbying the federal government on behalf of the AR. Heady days indeed as our firearms community came together for the common good that almost seems impossible today. Notwithstanding the recent anti-NFA movement amongst certain segments of the CGN community, revisionist history shouldn't be allowed to erase the positive contribution Dave and the NFA made to our shared fight and firearms history. Not pointing any fingers.

As for the availability of CC IURs at reasonable prices, I think it's great. As for the odd ding, at that price, I've got no problem with them and it will make it that much easier when I get to add my own. I swear, trying to get gun owners to agree on anything is like trying to herd cats.

I didn"t want to start argument again all I want is a range report can't find any intel on how the darn thing shoots anywhere.

Like any cc gun it shoots well with a good shooter and ammo, average with average ammo and shooter. For reliability if you complete it with quality components, it will be plenty reliable.

True that....I went from plinking groundhogs and coyote hunting to nearly becoming a Felon when that assclownshow unfolded with my AR....was my first real bittersweet taste of gun control...followed up by another snoutful when my prohib status got underhandedly revoked and I was again staring down the barrel of becoming a Felon by paperwork.
And both times...many of even my local gun owners and "sportsman" not only didn't give a flyin fook...some even suggested " well you don't have any use for that assault rifle or short pistol".......
They were good with the solace that the govt wasn't out for "their" arms...and tossed the rest of us under the bus.
We are so divided and as such...will be easily conquered when...not if... the Libs pick up with where they left off...... :(

Question about these uppers, I don't have my restricted as of yet I go in a month or two. I want to get the upper portion is this legal to do with just a pal? Then purchase a lower once I get my restricted? I don't want to miss on the deal.

Complete AR newb here. Is it recommended to add these uppers to a Colt lower, or will any decently manufactured lower be compatible?

In theory any lower should be compatible however my AeroPrecision lower would not mate with the IUR. The rear takedown pin holes are misaligned by a few thousandths. Small machining differences between manufacturers can stymie the AR Lego goodness.

They shoot very well. You have to realize these are combat rifles or police patrol rifles. If you're looking for super light and fast for 3 gun or other sport shooting then these aren't the right uppers for you. The same applies if you're looking for a Reece style rifle or target rifle. They are a compromise so they do well overall but don't excell in any one thing. More accurate than a regular AR but not more so than one with a match barrel. Handy but still heavier than most AR15 rifles. That being said they are built solid.

I've had a fair amount of trigger time with the C8IUR shooting 77 grain IVI ammo. No failures and accuracy stayed consistent even with warming up the barrel.

I will however say that I do actually prefer my LMT mrp carbines over my C8IUR carbines. Although it's fairly close.

That is what I figured.

Thanks!

Mine just came in and it looks flawless

Got mine today as well. It's joining my current C8IUR. There is an almost invisible tiny mark on one of the rail corners. I had to go over it in extreme detail to locate any flaw. This was a great purchase!
