Just a show-and-tell thread :)

Got a chance today to try out my new build, from the Colt Canada IUR + stripped lower combo they were selling. (Thanks to Dean at Select Shooting Supplies for getting me this!)

Has a JP single stage trigger, Magpul UBR stock, Magpul MOE+ grip, LMT bolt carrier group, and no-name Brownells lower parts kit. Trijicon TR24G optic.

Ran flawlessly with Norinco surplus ammo, American Eagle, Atlanta Arms .223 and Wasp Munitions reloaded .223 (the last two from Ammosupply.ca)

This is my second AR build. Some thoughts I have, now that I've done it twice...

The JP trigger is more complicated to install than a regular one. Especially if you forget to use the little threaded brass bullet thing that is supposed to make inserting the trigger pins easier. I didn't see it in the package, did it the hard way, and it was a pain in the A$$.
The UBR stock is heavy. Unbelievably solid, but heavy.
Soaking the lower in oil to get the color to match works well, but everything gets oily for days. You can still see the oil coming out around the trigger pin holes, and the mag release.

Picture of it sitting with its friends:

Congratulations, and thanks for posting.

Would you do it again, or would you just go ahead and buy a complete 15.7 next time? I'm torn between buying the IUR and building another, or just buying the complete rifle.

For me, I'm finding that the building process (researching components, assembling it) is almost as fun as the shooting of it. So, I'll almost certainly build again. All totalled, i'm sure my parts cost more than buying a SA15.7, but it's unique! So I would do it again.
