Hey,

Anyone out there have the IUR? I'm building an AR right now and using a Colt M4 lower. I was considering the IUR but wanted to hear what people thought of it first. The only thing that I don't like about it is the monolithic design. It sort of limits what you can add/remove from it. Also, with the two large inserts on the side rails for the sling mounts, you lose a bunch of space. But the build/quality is great.

Just looking for anyone's thoughts before I drop $899 on it.

Thanks

losing space? for what? tactical bottle opener? MBITR adaptor?
You get a true free-float with rail and a very descent flash suppresor for 900$
It is better value and a regular 15.7. I sold my 15.7 upper, without furniture for the price of a IUR.

What he said.

The Just picked mine up and love it.
My biggest concern was switching from the 1:9 twist on my old AR to 1:7 on the colt because my wallet prefers bulk 55gr ammo but I took her out yesterday to sight in and was pleasently surprised. 3" groups at 100 yards with Norinco 55gr, accurate enough for 3 gun as far as I'm concerned, and 2" with 62gr ammo. I imagine these groups would shrink further had I been using an actual scope instead of my eotech, a lead sled instead of a backpack to shoot off of and obviously match ammo. Admittedly most of my AR shooting is trying to hit target zones and not make tiny groups so I'm sure we could toss shooter error in as one of the ingredients for larger groups as well.
Straight from the colt Canada website:
"The IUR is a float tube which removes all external influences from the barrel not unlike that of a sniper rifle. The floating barrel provides for greater accuracy from a system that already fires 1 MOA."

I wouldn't mind getting one but, I kind of wonder why there are so many barely fired and unfired ones on the EE. Why wouldn't they sell these with BCG's?

I think that many were impulse buy. Some guys bought more that one expecting to make a profit since nobody knew how many were available.

For the bolt, the contract was likely just an upgrade for upper only so no need to provide a bolt.

Just picked up my Colt Canada IUR. Here it is with:
  • An ATI OMNI Hybrid lower
  • A "Scorched Earth" MFT Minimalist stock
  • A "Scorched Earth" MFT Pistol Grip
  • FDE Rail Ladders
  • Magpul Angled Fore Grip (AFG)
  • Vortex Optics 3x Spitfire Prism Optic

My next step will be to upgrade the Lower. I am planning to put on an Aero Precision lower and a Trigger Tech Trigger (I pre-ordered one and will install it when it comes).
