Colt Canada LE901 Upper receiver

Other who are up on the system may be able to expound more, but from what I heard there may have been barrel issues...to what extent, I have no idea. It was enough so, that the Canadian arm stepped up to make uppers for it.

I have a 901 and at this time i'm not aware of any issues? however it looks like they went to an "M-lok" style rail, rather than the older picatinny style? maybe weight was an issue? also it still appears to be the same monolithic upper.

It appears that Colt has given up on Le901. They had disappeared from catalogue and the fact they unloaded a bunch of lowers to discount outlets.

LE901 as a military weapon pretty much failed in the market. The only place that bought any as a military weapon is Malaysia AFAIK. Otherwise HK and FN own the market in 7.62 MBR and DMR. There isn't really any fault to LE901 but Colt was too late to the market, both HK and FN have been making HK417 and SCAR 17 longer and they had combat history.

In the civilian world they are competing against a horde of others, and too slow to adapt to the civilian market wants. People who want a hunting or sporting rifle have many less pricy and better choices. Those who want a combat gun head straight to the SCAR17S. As a precision gun, it is nowhere near in that market.
