Colt Canada rifles to the public?

They could be cheaper versions made with short cuts to sell to civilians.

The CC/Diemaco rep in the Sun news interview stated that the Civilian rifles were made to the same standard as all the rest of their weapons, just semi-auto only.

Maybe Colt Canada would risk their reputation on putting out lower quality weapons

(hell, maybe they just bought a container load of Dominion Arms/Norinco rifles and re-roll marked them Bwahahahaha)

but I really don't see the upside for them. CC will be judged by their current and future customers based on these rifles the same as any other. They area considered a "top tier" maker of military grade weapon systems. If they start to branch out and sell lower quality offerings, it would call into question the quality of everything they manufacture.

Imagine if KAC or Noveski or DD started offering a "budget, entry level" line with "nearly" the quality that end users have come to depend on. Wouldn't that start to shake people confidence that they were really getting the best that these manufacturers had to offer?

No matter what the penny-pinchers and negative-Nancys say. They will sell out in no time flat. I want one, but I am vested in 7.62x39 at this point.

If they are only selling an initial run of 250 no ####. Just run the percentage. Compared to the million plus gun owner 250 is a pretty small percentage. It's safe to say 1-3% of the firearms owners will purchase it. if we go by a base number of 1 million people that gives at least 10,000-30,000 people willing to fork over the money. Hell drop that number to a full niche category. 0.5% would be 5000 of the firearms owners will be willing to buy this. If not right away eventually for whatever reason.

where did you get the idea there are only 250 to sell?

Why, as a company, would you want your potential customers to NOT be able to afford your products?!?!!!!

Seriously!?!

I don't know, but you see all the time where a business insists on making, say, $1000 profit on a speciality market item and sells 1 or 2, whereas if they cut their per-item profit to half that, they would make a lot more money by selling 100 or more.

Why would they if as it seems by this thread people are willing to buy and justify the price.

This reminds me of the Leupold CQBSS scope, when it came out it was around $4500, and there were people there to justify its cost too. A few years later they dropped the price $1500 because of "production efficiencies", Leupold has been making scopes for over 100 years you'd think they'd have their efficiencies all sorted by now. Please, was nothing more than price gouging that went south and once they figured not many we're falling for it they changed the price.

Canadians pay more because they accept it, not only accept it but some will actually justify it.

You cannot really compare the CQBSS which was designed from scratch for a .mil program with an original quantity expected to be under 500.

When volume was much higher on the .mil side than expect, they reduce the prices.

Initial pricing was set to re-coup the IRD monies Leupold spent -- it happens.

If I could afford one I would buy one!! Drop my Leupold Mark AR scope in it and be happy as a pig in mud. I know Matt Kirkpatrick is gonna be happy because I won't be razzing him about being the Colt guy and not shooting a Colt anymore.......As far as the price? yeah it is a bit steep for me but you get what you pay for.

to the gentleman that asked about people wearing out their barrels through just shooting at the range. My frankenbuild has a colt 1:7 heavy barrel on it and is at just over half life. (As measured by a friend in the weapons tech world) When it is shot out. I hope to purchase another one and enjoy it for another couple thousand rounds!!! Although if Matt is monitoring this thread...... A C7 for a guy with a stunning personality like mine would be nice of Colt to donate.....Just saying.......

I would love the C8 but I already dropped a lot of coin on my build which I am very happy with...
If they came with a quad rail, free float I would be more inclined to consider having one in the future for the cool factor!
Let's see if the pricing comes down in near future but I'm sure my DDM4v2 is in the same ball park of quality!

Hey gang, remember, Diemaco's rifles have no affect on your existing ones. It does not make them better or worse quality and by no means should everybody somehow feel the need to have one.

If we have a rifle or rifles that we like now, we should still like them. If you feel that folks are looking down on you based on the name on your receiver, mentally give them the finger and get the heck out and shoot what ya got.

Yes exactly. Life is about timings. Timing is real bad for me right now. I guess I will be stuck with my issued C7 and my BCM C8 and C7 clones... ;)

If the timing is good for you. Buy it and shoot the hell out of it. That's it. Why so expensive... ?!? why?!? lol Arrgg!!

Honestly, if i had 2k, i would buy a Tavor instead.

This pricing is just stupid.

I was way mor expecting between 1.2-1.4k

In the world of "assault rifles" and government sales, HK G36, Beretta ARX160, TAVOR......are considered "choices due to economic constraints".

When "price" is in the equation, it was down to Galil ACE, AR160x and Colt M4 in the Indian Tender.

The gucci kits are the HK416, Colt Canada C8/IUR and SG55X. That is why only the rich countries and the special forces get them. Small Rich militaries like the Danes, the Dutch and the Norwegian can afford to equip their entire military with either Colt Canada Rifles and HK416.

The French tender is the same thing. The special forces got their 2200 HK416, and the big army will be down to "price" per unit again at the end. IWI cannot even squeeze in the TAVOR because bullpup is not accepted, they have to go with Galil ACE. That is why HK is not sure they should go with the HK416A5 or the G36 with the new handguard. The 416 will lose in price against SCAR, ARX160 and others.

And guess which way the NZ army is going to replace their 8000 Steyr AUG? My bet it is a race among C8, HK416 and SCAR. Money doesn't seem to be a big issue when the standard of living is high and the army is small.

Colt Canada is like a Boutique shop in the world of government sales. It is like the Noveske to the civies, the way it is to the governments. If you want to buy and make cheap M16, get a license off colt like the Malaysian has just done. Now you can cut whatever corners you want and use the cheapest labour.

Rich Countries and fully funded units get C8, HK416 and SG55X. The rest of the big army get plastic guns. It is just the way it goes.

Just saying.

And quote of the day goes too... DoubleA

"But I forget most Canadian gun owners are penniless deadbeats, all bark."

Laugh2

These Colt Canada rifles are amazing. These are built to higher standards than your Walmart Colt. CC MIGHT SHARE A NAME WITH COLT USA BUT THEY ARE LEAPS AHEAD OF COLT USA GUNS. When our soldiers were in the sandbox our guns kept going while American Colts were over heating And failing. I will end up getting one. Made in Canada by Canadians should mean something. I'm in awe at so much flak over a proven firearm. Also Larry Vickers knows his stuff and anyone who tries to troll him, needs to wake up. I'm glad to see another AR 15 and I hope to get a C8 IUR or C7.

$1600 too $2000 is where it should be in Canada for that current model! $2500 for US civvies is fair. That is the way I see it...
