Hey folks,
While we are waiting for some new models, there just happens to be a few Gen II IUR (lightened) uppers left in stock from a large military order. We don't usually stock anything, but I may ask for a few of these for the commercial market if there is any interest. I'll have pricing after I go back to work, I just wanted to see if anyone is interested.
These have a medium profile cold hammer forged 15.7 in barrel with improved chamber, 1/7 batch marked and HPT as per Canadian MILSPEC. There is a full top (39 slot) and bottom (20 slot) rail and the G/L recoil lug. The side rails are partial with 10 slots, and a steel insert quick detach sling fitting. Rail slots are laser engraved. The rails are NATO STANAG 4694 spec and are back compatible with MIL-STD_1913 accessories. There is a protected low profile gas block and no sights. The upper has a hardened steel insert for the cocking handle latch to resist wear with enlarged latches.
The upper is marked COLT CANADA 2C085 (that is CC's NCAGE) and NATO for the rail type on the right side.
The barrel is fitted with our new proprietary flash hider designed specifically to tame the fire on short 5.56 machine guns. It produced thirty percent less flash on the high speed video than the next nearest device, and is designed to direct no flash into the sight picture and no gas down into the dust.
This will also be covered by our limited lifetime warranty, and will be fully supported here in Canada - no shipping to the states or big hassle.

I have decided that my Norc is not as well finished, but for the price difference I could hire an entire immigrant family to polish the parts by hand until it looks the same.

You'd still only have a shiny Norc.
Even Colt Defense guns aren't in the same category as Colt Canada. Side by side the quality is noticeable.
I get that there are major differences in quality, but can you point to any specific things I can look to on my gun that would be notably different or better on the Colt? Or is it one of those 'ovreall fit and finisih' things? I actually want to know, not being butthurt about my norc - I know it's not considered 'good'.
I can't justify spending 3x more on a gun that isn't significantly more accurate just because it's got a nicer finish. The norc doesn't jam or anything so I'm not really seeing the big reason to spend such a large amount.

Cold Hammer Forged barrel. Having shot it, I can say personally, the Colt Canada guns are more accurate than my Colt Defense guns.
Go look at Matt's posts on testing and accuracy. He posts under the title Colt Canada in their forum routinely. Also, there is a podcast floating around in which he covers a lot of the what and why material showing what you get for the money.
I could do a whole lot of cutting and pasting, but the information is already out there.
Colt Canada and Colt Defense are two totally different builders. The end guns aren't copies of the other.

I had both and there's nothing wrong with a Norc as a beater gun (Might get another one just for $hits and giggles). I've only shot my Norc out to 50m, though I've heard of people competing with them in 3 gun matches as well as service rifle?
I have had my issued C7A2 out to 500m and was mind-blown on the potential accuracy. I’m not a particularly skilled shooter, but I was able to hit the V-bull a few times from 500m at a competition last year. It was the first time I’d ever shot that distance, with the magazine buried in the grass, and shooting without the luxury of a shooting matt, bipod, sandbags and decent magnification. That day, I was totally sold on Colt Canada/Diemaco rifles.
I have confidence in Colt Canada products that they are made to a standard that is the same the rifle in rack #47. I still like Norc for blatting away at 25-100m, but if I had to take a 500m shot, I’d be grabbing my SA20. Aside from a plethora of other features and benefits, the biggest one is probably the CHF barrel that’s supposed to last 3 times longer than Colt Defence barrels (I heard that Norc barrels are also hammer forged, but no evidence to support that). I doubt I will ever outshoot my SA20 barrel, but hey, it’s good to know that it can.
