Money is money, whether you are military, leo, a martian, doesnt matter.
I wish CC and other companies like HK would understand that.
Offering a product color exclusively to some citizens and not to others sounds stupid to me.

If it costs them a dollar to make 1.25 in the LEO/Mil space, but it costs them a dollar to make 1.10 in the civvie space, what do you think they'll focus on? They will chase the greatest return.

governments dont buy ARs every year, civies do. Its not uncommon for a single civvie to own 6 or 7 ar15 and a bunch of spare parts and spare optics, thats a huge volume without the government BS.
There are more RPALs in Canada than our entire military, and growing fast look at the waiting lists for RPAL courses!
Civvies as a group have exponentially more money than any government purchasing program. Yes civvies are annoying and demanding and babies, but if as a manufacturer you have a mindset with emphasis on quality and customer service/warranty/spare parts and after market upgrades, you're golden.

Every single company needs to understand that the sole purpose to their existence is PROFITS!
PROFITS
No other purpose exists, should exist, will exist, or has ever existed, ever!
Time for CC to start opening themselves up to that notion.
The civilian market is vast, but civilians are pretty demanding on their product's value.

I'm certain that they do just fine with their military and LE contracts or they wouldn't exist. They are the Canadian government's center of excellence for firearms and are actually considered a national strategic asset. They exist to make a profit of course, but they also serve a "higher" purpose.... that of providing firearms to NATO armies. I can't emphasize enough that they really don't need our business. I for one feel very lucky to have been able to purchase a firearm made by CC. To be honest, I think Matt showed great restraint and patience in his posts considering the repeated posts asking about things that he had previously explained quite clearly. I don't envy anyone in the position of a company rep to the public. What a nightmare.

November of 2014 they were on the brink of bankruptcy

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/11/foghorn/colt-teetering-brink-bankrupcy/

no one is too big to fail, those days are long gone.

And I will guarantee that Colt could give a #### about canadian civilian firearm sales. The total amount of profit Colt would make from canadian civilian sales wouldn't be enough to wipe their asses

Anyone who thinks the Canadian civilian market is even comparable to the various international defense contracts they have is kidding themselves. Colt doesn't need or want to deal with civilian sales, I'm sure. No doubt it's not worth their hastle and I was surprised to see them sell what they did. What most don't realize is they don't just produce/sell C7's and C8's. That's just a drop in the bucket of what they do. They have been and will continue to do just fine whether they choose to continue to sell the SA line or not. The sense of self entitlement and over exaggerating the civilian market is amusing though.

No doubt.

Colt and HK thought the same, and yes on the brink of brankruptcy.
Canadian civilian market might not compare to international defense contracts, but USA civilian market sure does.
Civilian market in the USA is incredibly large, and CC already has a reputation there for good quality.

And Colt Canada cannot sell in the US due to ITAR. So the Canadian civilian market is all they would have.

The civilian market in the US is flodded with every Tom, #### and Harry selling gimmicky AR's and parts there of. Colt (not to be confused with Colt Canada) hasn't adopted the more is better stance and refuse to cater to 'civilian operators' but haven't adjusted their price. That's why Colt USA is in trouble.

Because of ITAR, and other legislation in the US. There import laws are very different than their export laws.

ITAR in a way a protectionism for the US defense industry. Colt Canada has an agreement with Colt Defense, they can not sell their products in the US unless they are the sub contractor.

That and the US won't allow the importation of foreign barrels. Kinda leaves CC in a position that they can only sell parts, much like how CC parts wind up on Colt Defense guns. Built up lowers, no CHF barrels from Canada.

Nope. Colt is in t ruble because they are the most lazy big firearms company on the planet. They lived the last half century on government payroll, for firearms designed by other, more dynamic companies. Now they even lost the contract for the m4.
That was the only thing they still had to milk. Now FN makes the new m4s. It's funy, the lazy company, who didn't spend one cent on designing and developing new things, lost the contract for their own gun, to one of the most innovative and dynamic companies on the planet. They thought the government gravy train will go on for ever. They couldn't be bothered with civies.
Colt ready to go bancrupt during the biggest boom in firearms sales in history. That should tell you everything you need to know about Colt. They didn't design one new thing in over a century. Let them die already.

Colt Canada's mentality is exactly the same like Colt defense. Milking the tax payer and pretend g they are so Gucci cool. Had they been such an awesome company, why didn't they put together a rifle design, but have the government (us, tax payers), buy licence for colt's guns.
Honestly, I have more respect for keltec, than this government dependent parasites.
