Someone offers me a Colt Commander Gold Cup 45 in stainless. I have seen lots of Colt Gold Cup but I have not seen a Commander Gold Cup. He says it is a collectors item. What is the value ? Any experts ?

It could be an oddball production. What series is it? Got any pics?
If it is a rare gun it would be worth more in the US.

Well, they were certainly offered by Colt and I would think would be a pretty rare bird. My concern is that they would be rare because they're a weird idea. They are purported to be a target pistol, but in Commander size, which reduces the sight radius, increases recoil, and decreases muzzle velocity. So compared to a Government-size Gold Cup, the majority of bullseye shooters aren't going to find them as good a pistol. They probably had a very limited appeal as a defensive pistol with improved trigger and accuracy, but I doubt if they made a ripple in the target shooting community.

Yes, they are quite rare in Canada anyway. A good price would be whatever he's willing to part with it for & what you're willing to cough up for it. I'd be all over it if I had the chance to buy one [within reason]. Minty, in box with original papers etc probably in the $1,000 - $1,200 area.

I found this photo on another board. It is indeed a fine looking pistol. They say it is worth about $1200 (US). Regards, Richard :D

There was on for sale on one of the Canadian auction sites .I put a bid on it till $1100 .I went for $1150 .The condition was sated as new .

Yes, it is very good looking. It is a 80 Series and only 1000 of them have been made. I am going to ask him how much does he want to let it go.

When they were available, I saw one at Lever (about 15 years ago) - I believe they were about $1000. That's when Lever was about the cheapest place to buy firearms.
