Colt Diamonback .22 Revolver

I have received a Colt Diamondback which I bought from a member here. The serial number is started with P. Does anyone know the date of birth of this revolver ? She is very good looking and the finishing is better than my S&Ws. Would some Colt revolver experts tell me more about her ? Thanks.

My Colt book by RL Wilson shows the P variants started in 1981. I would need more numbers to pinpoint the year.

I have a prohib, 4", mint condition. The serial # on mine starts with an 'R'. what does the 'R' signify, if anything?

R seems to be made in 1977 to 1978. There may be differences according to the letter but I can't find any info on it.

Milarm here in Edmonton has a nickeled 6 inch for sale I believe, very nice gun. I don't recall what the R is for offhand, I'll have to look in some of my referance books. - dan
