colt double eagle

i have one and i like it. the one thing that some shooters had a problem with the Double Eagle was that the trigger pinched the index finger on some. i haven't found this a problem. keep in mind that should the right side of the grip become lost or severely damaged (on the inside), the trigger mechanism will not function properly.

By chance this happened to be the very first handgun I ever fired many years ago. Could never afford one then. always wanted a 10mm after that. Hard to find now. Have read about the frame on this 1911 conversion to 10mm is a little weak for the power of 10mm rounds, but it's just hearsay. I just bought a glock 20 IN 10mm. Believe me I was not a fan of the glock, but the G20 is good gun. Ugly but good, like an old Volvo.

My 2 cents.......................

Let's just say there's a good reason the Double Eagle was discontinued and leave it at that.... ;)

I have heard several people say similar things but there's something about mine (.45 ACP) I just couldn't let go. I sold it to a buddy some years back and ended up buying it back again! It's rare I make a trip to the range and don't bring it.

It's a brute of a pistol for smaller hands and prefers ball ammo but the darn thing was plenty accurate out of the box and when I added a full length guide rod and a stiffer spring it allowed me to run a slightly hotter load with good control. I shot IPSC with it for several years.

It's certainly not the most comfortable gun I own but it's kind of like those old jeans or sneakers that you can't seem to be able to trade in on new ones.
