After having not fired my series 80 .45 SS Gold Cup for about 1.5 years it was time for a shoot. Unlike before, the ejected brass now comes close to my face. About 1 in 5 actually contacts my earmuff or face. Any ideals. The gun was clean and was firing factory 230gr ball, as usual. Suggestions would be appreciated.

It may be the extractor? It would be interesting to see if you could alter the angle the case ejects from the handgun by changing the extractor tension. What about the angle on the ejector??? My latest project has a slight forward angle( / ) on the leading edge of the ejector. Would a reclined angle( \ ) make the case come out on a more vertical angle?? Anyway it may be as simple as replacing the recoil spring.

I bought it used, as new, and I hardly shoot it...minimal round count I suppose. I wouldnt think its a wear & tear thing. Perhaps the recoil spring is getting tired. Just got back from the range. Fired it about a dozen times with contact being made once on my forehead and 3 times on my earmuffs. Very annoying!!!
