Colt IUR and le 6920 lower ?

I'm curious on why didn't you just start with buying a SA20 or SA15.7 instead of buying the stag?
it was only in the last couple of wks that I started looking for an AR15, there just happened to be an add on the EE , that someone wanted to trade a stag for an XCR-L.Then I seen the IUR and, well there you have it.

This is a little inaccurate. The IUR uppers have a cocking handle. There are no CC BCG available at this time. There will be at some point this year - I can't put a date on it as they are all spoken for at the moment. When we do have some they will be made available and will of course have our lifetime warranty.

A Colt's bolt will be MILSPEC and fit. The carrier will fit the upper, but watch for compatibility issues with some Colt lowers.

Some older 6920's were manufactured with large hammer and trigger pins which are functional, but not compatible with nearly any other aftermarket triggers. There are a few match triggers for the large pin lowers like the Geissele. If you have the serial number series you can call Colt Customer Service 1-800-962-2658 ext. 1450 and they can advise which pins are in it. All current 6920 are small (.155 standard) pins.

Additionally some 6920 were manufactured with the steel sear block lower. Some carriers are not compatible with this block. Current production 6920 don't use this block.

Some older pre-ban commercial Colts use non-detent large pivot pins (.315) and an IUR upper will not fit on these since they take MILSPEC pivot pins (.250).

Sorry my bad, didnt know these uppers included the charging handle (Bonus! Can't wait to get mine). As for guys that want to mate these uppers to a Colt large pin lower can they use Colts adapter pin? Not sure why anyone would want to do that anyhow..

OP your Stag lower and BCG should work with the IUR - Stag stuff (in Canada) is generally 100% compliant. To be safe, have the head space checked with the Stag bolt.
It does say that the stag is all mil spec , anyway this is my first AR ( first time I've ever seen one actually). I was 20 minutes trying to figure out how to #### it. Lol. There's a small button/ lever next to the safety selecter, that I don't even know what it's for yet. I never got it until 1 AM so I haven't much time to play with it yet. When you say have the headspace checked, who would do that? The gun manufacturer or a smith? Maybe Armseast could answer that. Also my plan is to build the colt with all CC parts, As they have been releasing first the rifle, then the IUR, and soon a BCG, I don't think the lower is more than 6 months behind.

Brian,
Happy you asked about this. I'm new to the AR game also, but when Colt Canada put out this message I couldn't think of a better time or price for quality to try one. I have been looking for a maple leaf lower and I found this website. It's from alberta tactical rifle: http://www.albertatacticalrifle.com...listing/product/43-at15-billet-lower-receiver
Maybe someone on your thread could take a look at it and provide some feedback on this. This might be what you're looking for pending answers from guys in the know.
Regards,
GT

I'm sure that the ATRS lower would be a good option, I'm thinking ,sooner or later that the CC lower will become available . Just have to play the waiting game. To me personally , it's not a Colt unless it's a Colt. ( upper and lower).:) I'm more interested in the Colt rifle as a whole . I hope that makes some kinda sense.? I also have a Stag so , I can wait it out.

Not to go off topic..but what lowers are most of you planning to go with the Colt IUR upper? Or what would you guys recommend?

If one were to spend 5 or 6 hundred on a good quality complete lower , wouldn't you be better off to buy a 6920 for $1000 ish , and sell the upper?

youtube is your best friend, there are countless ar building, operation, review videos, e.g just search how to check headspace ar 15 on youtube you will get tons of hits.

I've got a 6920 waiting for my upper, just need to find a Colt BCG. I'll probably wait out until they're available from CC, no hurry, it's not like I'm rocking duellies at the range anyway. Hell, I might just flip the 6920 lower and swap between my SA20 lower.

I stripped her completely down and cleaned her up, last night. Piece of cake. And I now know about headspace (go nogo).

Sounds like like a good plan.

Just an FYI. Colt has been asked about releasing stripped or complete lowers and have advised they have no plans to do so. They are only planning on releasing complete rifles and some accessories such as BCG's. The IUR uppers were only made available as over runs from a gov contract. I suspect we won't see anything released from CC other than complete rifles moving forward.

Well maybe they'll have an over run of lowers:) Or maybe they'll want a bigger piece of the civilian market. And if not , I'll just get a us colt lower.

Got one of the of these coming and it's going on a spare M4LE made in Canada lower, which is what it wants. Have a Danish bolt to make it run like it's supposed to.

I suspect we are being "taunted" as these parts wouldn't be generally available. He must have a good friend within the LE community or at CC direct to get these parts. I would also be very interested in these parts. Do tell....

You can buy them and import them out of the US. Not such a big secret.

Colt Defense contracts Colt Canada to build parts such as lower receivers from time to time.

See this thread... http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1203546-Rollmarks-Colt-Canada-Diemaco-Lowers

Lowers are relatively easy. The Danish bolt might be a little tougher.

Ya, I was referring to the bolt, not the lower. I don't think we'll be privy as to where the Danish BCG came from.
