All right guys, even though I bet a ton of people have asked this and similar questions on here, I haven't been on here that long and I searched and was unable to find a definitive answer to my question:

Can we import the LE Colts with 16" barrels? Through companies like Questar I mean to say? People say they're hard to find in Canada, is Colt or the USA not exporting them? I know they don't export anything under 16", but if I can then I'll order an A3 Tactical tommorow and wait however long it takes to arrive.

And flipping through some gun magazines I've seen independant gun shops who have those rifles in stock, can they send them our way?

Please put me out of my misery as this question has been eating away at me for a while now. Thanks alot.

The story floating around was that they are stamped "for LE only" so the US won't issue export permit for it.

Wondering then how the Armalites are getting here, because unless things have changed since I got rid of my last one about two years ago, aren't they all laser etched with the Restricted Gov't/Law Enforcement/Export "warning" on the lowers as well?

hsld.

They were maked LEO durring the US Assult weapon ban 1994-2004. The only ones still marked as such are ones with shorter than 16" barrel or with full auto or burst. There were never restrictions of the clinton crime bill in Canada so durring those 10 years AR15's coming into Canada with collapsable stocks, flash hiders, and bayonett lugs were LEO marked. Since 9/11 it was much more dificult to get one exported from the US. Some still are in older inventory but new rifles with such evil features are now sold again without the LEO markings in the US as US citizens can own these rifles with such evil features again just like before 1994.

R. Nicholls and Colt had an agreement that the LE Models were for PD only. R. Nicholls sold them to dealers and when Colt or The US State found out they got their pee-pee whacked. Now they require end user certs.

I guess this whole issue begs the question, why does it have to be a Colt?
There is really no problem getting any number of identically equipped AR's
from Armalite, Rock River, etc...
To be honest, given my choice, Colt would be the last major manufacturer
that I would pick from the current group available.
So unless mo par has got his heart set on a Colt, in particular, who cares?

Well thanks guys, and indeed my heart is set on a Colt. Call it sentimental reasoning, or just being a big fan of Colts, or maybe it's because you can get any other equivalent from other manufacturers, but that's what I'm setting to get my hands on.

Hi guys,
I am new here but have been lurking for a while. Diemaco in Kitchener, Ontario manufactures our Canadian Forces C-8. Colt has purchased Diemaco, so you would think that it shouldn't be difficult to purchase one in Canada. Or am I missing something (which is certainly possible). I got to shoot one a few months ago. Now I want my own. They have engraved our Maple Leaf on the side. Nice touch.
Your information on this forum is great.

No problem my friend. If that's what it's going to take....
I believe your only choice would be to post a thread on the board looking for
one that is already in country.
The chances of getting a new, genuine Colt imported is probably slim to none.
Good luck, and God's speed!

I have 2 Colt leo 6920 one new unfired and the other with 100 rounds .They are very hard to find .Private message me if you are interested. I am in Winnipeg.

I've had 4 6920s, they are excellent, well made rifles, I could not get any of them to shoot well with the factory Colt barrels, add to the fact they have non milspec trigger/hammer pins, unmilled sear area(it bugs me OK) and a sliced bolt carrier I binned them all, they are not worth the stupid money people are asking for them. If MP C parts are important to you then get a bolt group and put it in a Bushy,Stag or Armalite, the Colt engraving won't help you shoot any better. Older Colt's, now that's another story. As always YMMV.

If anybody has to have a 6920 rifle, try giving Target Sports a call at 905-888-8288 or e-mail them targetsportscenter@bellnet.ca they have a used one in stock in excellent condition. As for Colt rifles I have no complaint other than price and some of the issues that sparrow brought to light, I have been fortunate enough to own most brands, including converted auto Colts, and they all performed pretty much the same, the difference I noticed was in the barrels by aftermarket manufacturers, in accuracy and performance.

FWIW, I had a 6001 A2 Colt and LOVED it. Would have kept it if I had not gravitated to carbines. Colt = good stuff. Albeit, overpriced considerably.
