We keep telling ourselves that US State Dept. Is no longer letting 5.56 marked firearm related "paraphernalia" exit the great USA. However, some interesting stuff keeps getting approved for export. Good for us drooling, salivating gun hungry Canucks.

So, with that said will we ever see any of these warlocks ever again or are we left with what's here? Are these Colts really and truly Unobtanium?

And to clarify, I'm not questioning how 5.56 material is imported, just wondering if the US is loosening their death grip on some 5.56 stock, then why not the Colt's?

See what I mean? Can anyone shed some light?

Oh, and for the Mods, the search function is rather temperamental. Sometimes it registers nothing, and other times it picks up. I dunno, just bringing it to your attention.

Colt don't export to Canada, because Colt Canada is already here to supply all the military and LE, but they don't sell to lowly civilians.

The Colt Sales Manager for Canada told me at Shot Show it's because they product the M4 for the US Government. Therefore the US State Dept. won't issue export permits for them. If you want one your best bet is the EE. There is a couple of them in the Black Rifle section.

There hasn't been a Colt exported out of the US for 5 years.

That is absolutely incorrect.

We have managed to get a couple of approved export permits for COLT AR's the past 2 years. Not for very many but we did get 2 permits approved.

About 2 years ago we got a permit for a limited number of LE6920's and LE6940's.

This past year we got another permit for COLT AR's approved as well (again for very limited number amount of product.

Most of the COLT AR applications are being denied outright, or approved with restrictions that make them almost impossible to use.

I'm talking any more than one at a time and non-Mil/LE personnel. R.Nicholls is the Colt distributor for Canada and the last batch of 6920 they brought in was five years ago.

I purchased mine from CRAFM. He had a bunch of 6920's and 6940's in. Althhough I am military, they were sold to anyone with the cash in hand.

Sorry to hijack but what exactly is the difference between the 6920 and the 6940 , ive wanted one of these for a while but i cant see where the differences are that warrent the extra price tag , anyone care to share some light on that.

Same here, bought my LE6920 in July last year from CRAFM. They had five for sale and they were all gone in two weeks.

Well, I guess they'll trickle in then. Mark (Questar), that permit you had approved, did anything materialize? Did any come in? I don't remember seeing any on the site. Are you hoarding all of them for yourself? If you are, well, I don't blame you one friggin' bit.

I wouldn't make a very good firearm dealer as I would have too much of a hard time parting with acquisitions meant for resale!

The permit a year or so ago was used... CRAFM and a west coast dealer took them all at that time and they sold out pretty fast.

This last permit has been an issue finding product... we did get a couple of LE6921's (in tan) and recently sold one on Gun Auction. Not sure what I want to do with the remaining couple... may keep them.

We have a couple other COLT rifles (different model) that we purchased and paid for months ago but the distributor keeps delaying shipment saying COLT is on backorder. It may well end up that the permit expires before the shipment can be made in which case we won't be able to bring them into Canada.

Wouldn't the 6520 be easier to import since it says .223 on the lower? Their seems to be good prices on these in the US and while not as desirable as some of the other models I'm sure they'd still sell. I know I'd like to get my hands on one, I'd swap the upper for a flattop but it would be a nice handy lighweight carbine.
