Colt letter for a pistol..

Searching for "Colt Archive letter" should have done it. You can fill out the order form online and in approx. 90 days you will get a bill online. Never could quite understand why it always takes so long and never goes any faster or any slower. The prices range form $75/$100 (U.S) for most newer to up to $200/$300 for 1851 Navies/1860 Army's etc. If it is an older percussion firearm they may not have a record and I think there is a fee for the research. They have a pretty good "frequently asked questions" on their site with a complete price list.
I have ordered a few letters from them and always enjoyed them.
Also if there is an existing letter in someone else's name they will re-issue in your name for a lesser fee....good luck

I got one for an old Gov't Model a few years ago, I think it was around 100 bucks (give or take). Don't remember how long it took, but it is a nice looking letter and it pleasantly surprised me when it stated my pistol was purchased by the Can gov't and shipped in Sept of 1914, a shipment of 1000 firearms.
