Last letter that I received cost $100USD about 6 months ago. As mention, call Kathleen at Colt Archives 860-236-6311 and leave a message, she usually calls back in a day or two. Be prepared to wait, the ones I have in the works right now will take 100 to 120 days. Best of luck,

-A letter for that gun would be between $100 and $200. A letter could increase the resale value of the gun (at least the price of the letter) unless the gun is a total wreck! Also a letter from Colt is like a lottery ticket, you might find out that your gun was shipped/ordered for someone famous/military, etc and bring a higher value. It will also tell you if the gun is totally original or underwent changes since it's birth...which also determines the value! EX: John Waynes favourite SAA.
Personally I think that every old Colt owner should get a letter.
