I'm really interested in this pistol, does anyone know where I might locate one in Canada or do I have to find one in the US and contact Questar?

I see Armseast has a 70 series and that's a nice alternative.

Just read on the 1911 forum that they're out of production now so it might be harder to find. :(

Milarm used to have them. I found mine on EE here (minty with few rounds), I also saw unfired one for sale a while back, so they do pop up occasionally.

Be patient and jump on the right deal :)

WWI era 1911's real deal vs repro

'Course you can always watch the EE here for a real WWI era 1911. They do come up occasionally. More of the WWI Colt 1914 mfg commercials in the Canadian issue serial number range than the USGI models, though.

But there was a nice representative WWI USGI that sold off the EE in the past week or so. It had a Colt marked slide on a 1918 mfg Rem-UMC frame. I think it was in the $850 area. Personally, I'd certainly prefer one of those, if it was all in working order & still had some decent original finish to it, than the newer repro WWI version that Colt has been pedalling. Not saying that the Colt repro doesn't look nice, though.... ;)

I just sold my pristine, unfired replica on the EE a couple of months back. It went fast. Just get Questar to source and bring one in for you if you want it that bad. It would probably workout to be the same cost as new here anyway or even less. You'll just have to wait a month or so for delivery. Sometimes the anticipation of an incoming 1911 in the mail is enough to keep me awake at night.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that gets excited enough to lose sleep over a 1911

I didn't realize Questar actually sourced it for you as well - I thought you had to find it then they would do the importing.

There is a few options out there - maybe I'll have to get two! Both a replica and a real war era 1911. :)

"...a real war era 1911..." Mucho expensive in decent condition, Stateside. W.W. I vintage 1911's aren't exactly common either.

True but there's at least 1/2 dozen or so that pop up for sale in varying condition on the EE here every year. One just has to be vigilant and ready to make a deal when one comes along. The trick is to know what you are looking for & know if it's a good deal or not.

Prices of what USGI 1911 & 1911A1's are going for south of the border are only a loose guideline. It's what the market will bear up here that dictates price. I picked up a nice shooter condition 1917 mfg Colt US Army off the EE here for probably 1/2 what the same would sell stateside. There was a nice representative 1911 USGI with Colt slide and Rem-UMC 1918 mfg frame that went for ~ $850 about a week ago. So they are here & not all that rare or unobtainable.... ;)

Yes, Questar will source for you. Sean from Questar is on the US side and is a great guy to deal with. He works with Mark on this side of the boarder to make it all happen.

Here's a pic I was messing with of my 1918 Army. They are out there but I wouldn't suggest waiting, you could be waiting a long time. Try getting to know who has them and position yourself for first dibbs when they want to sell.
