i have wanted an ar but have been thinking about the colt m4 22 has anyone shot this gun? what do you think?
what do you think about the 22 vs .223 ?

The Colt is not your best choice for a .22 AR...I'd go with the Smith and Wesson. Comparing a .22LR and a .223Rem is kind hard...they are very, very different in everything from price, power, range, bullet weight, and how much they are effected by wind, ect. You can buy 525 .22LR rounds for about $25-$30 or 40ish .223Rem rounds for the same price. You can also reload .223Rem but you can't reload .22LR as its a rimfire.

i ment like characteristics (sp) of the .22 vs the .223 i have a 223 rem 700 and i reload for it so reload for an ar that .223 wouldnt cost me much

can't compare the price of ammo between 22 and 223!

and the colt is too much money for a gun lacking in sim-features . . . I too would suggest the S&W M&P15-22, or Ruger SR22 if you don't mind a gun that isn't exactly like an m4 but is non-restricted

i dont like the look of the ruger and the s&w is nice seen the s&w and the colt but maybe i'll just get a "real" ar thnx guys if only $ grew on trees i could have both lol

If its your first AR I would get a .22 version. .223 will break your bank before you become an okay shot. And as far as the SW MP-15 22 vs the Colt M4 22. Look at the reviews. The SW jams, and has extractor problems. I sent mine back and im using the Colt M4 now. No problems. SW is a great company but the MP-15 22 is still touch and go, Id wait a while before I pick it up if you want it. Mine actually blew the extractor clean off the rifle - sounded like a 308 going off.

If you are looking for a .223 and dont want to break the bank, look at marstar.ca they have a Norinco CQB - m4 replica rifle. I have put over 1500 rounds through mine and she keeps on going. It is a good starter M4. And honestly, after a new trigger and different rail/sites, it works just as well as all the american built M4's and I saved a lot of money.

Happy hunting, stay safe.
