Looking for a .22lr Colt look a like M4 type with a non restricted 18" or longer barrel for the daughter to target shoot and plink around with on the farm.

Wanstalls has a short barrel one (R) but is there any out there that are NR?

Just starting to reasearch and looking to fast track.

tks

Perhaps a Mossberg Tactical .22, Armscor M1600, both non r, both under $300 all in.

No, barrel length has nothing to do with it. 'AR15 like' lower reciever (not just a shell of an existing design) = restricted. period.

+1.

The AR is a named restricted and any of its variants are restricted as well, by association. The RCMP have decided to classify firearms by appearance only and ignore actual technical specifications, so any rimfire rifle that resembles the AR is classified restricted as well, despite being completely different internally.

OP, if it has to look like an AR and be non-restricted I would look at the Mossberg Tactical. If it doesn't have to be an AR clone, then look at the Ruger SR-22 or maybe a Marauder kit with a 10/22.

Just as a matter of interest, the barrel length limits do not apply to rimfires. There are many semi-auto rimfire rifles with short barrels and all are non-restricted as long as they remain over the 26" OAL limit.

Is the Moss Tac 22 a good rifle?
Who has one and can give an opinion.

Looks like Frontier is sold out...

OK will check that one to, tks.

I'm not a fan of the Mossberg Tactical .22. It's a Plinkster in a cheap stock, not solid enough feeling IMO... it feels like a toy (and this is coming from an AR fanboy ;)).

Is they ISSC better made in your opinion then. Dont mind spending more to get better quality.

Yep, I have a moss tactical. Have wrote alot about it. Please read past posts.
Love the gun, it's light but if you don't like plastic, the mossy isn't for you!
