Colt M4 22LR

One of Epp's guys were saying that there will be a review of all the firearms that have been restricted/prohibited for being "variants" of restricted/prohibited... GSG-5 etc etc.

Anyone else here of that? I know there was a court case where the gun owner won after his 22lr ar/ak look alike was deemed prohibited, but the RCMP were appealing...

I got chewed for the same issue, when you do a search it comes up with NOTHING. I find this happens with alot of things I search. No need for people to get on there forum highhorse and belittle people. A forum is a medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas. And who really cares about how many threads there are? How many threads are started every week on "Tactical Rimfires"? LOTS

I talked with my importer today , the guns are in crates waiting in Germany to be shipped . But he still has had no word from the RCMP on the class .

You know this black crap needs stop!! It's a .22 and any form of it should be Non-Restricted, as .22 you are aloud to have as large of a mag as you want. Why would if be restricted if it's in AR15 platform? Hell if they wanted it could be Prohibited cause it could be classed as a replica gun! Hell, airsoft guns coming into canada have to have a transparent receiver or they are seized cause they lie under the replica gun rules!
 
The RCMP and legislators involved are a bunch of dumb@$$'s... can we expect more?

There needs to be a reality check out there... the assumption seems to be if we give law abiding citizens "scary" black guns of any type, suddenly these same citizens will become criminals and terrorize the streets with their... 22LR?

Funny enough, but regardless of what I am shooting with, what I shoot will not change...
 
I had a chance to check out one of the Colts at Big 5 today ...they are a super nice gun, no real feedback on function from the guys behind the counter but if it can be made to run or does run it is a nice piece ...gotta love checking out guns at the Mall, God Bless America...

If it's not released yet then how is it that we have one sitting in our vault right now? :evil:

Some weeks ago there was an FRT number for these and they were showing as "Restricted" but at the moment that FRT listing is "gone" and it would appear that the classification is under review... so there would appear to be a chance that they may revise the original classification. Time will tell. It would be nice if they end up being classified as Non-Restricted but I have my doubts. All previous rulings would indicate a Restricted label but who knows... maybe we'll get lucky.

The guns are very different from regular AR's in some ways, yet appearance and layout is practically identical. Most parts are not the same... you definitely CANNOT convert the .22 version into anything else (receiver is polymer one piece that includes stock extension tube which is solid and cannot be replaced or accept buffer and spring. Many other differences... yet appearance and layout is classic AR.

We have one of the COLT M4's as well... side by side I really like the S&W much better than the COLT.

We heard really bad things from the US about the COLTs... that may or may not be factual... will have to see for ourselves what they are like and how well they stand-up. More info to come... soon I hope.
