Hi:

I found out which pistol I inherited and its a COLT MI IV SERIES 80, COLT OFFICER'S ACP.

Now, I am going to get my RPAL so that I can get this stuff rolling and transport it to a club for target practice. Now, does anyone know if this thing is prohibited? Cause I measured the barrel and it is 3 3/4". Also, what red tape, if any would I need to go through?? Thanks everyone for your help, I really appreciate it. I remember when over 10 yrs ago I went for my FAC and the whole club was full of guys. Sure wish there were more girls like me out there. Are there any???

Unless it was made before 1946 there is no way you can own it unless you have 12(6) on your RPAL, it is a Prohib. handgun. You may be able to get it rebarrels to over 105mm and then you can have it.

just my 2 cents

The MK IV colt officer is a 12.6 prohib,if you don't have your prohib license and still want to keep the gun you can put a commander lenght upper on it.The pistol could then be registered as restricted not a prohib,as far as i know you could put the officers upper for sale to someone with a 12.6 license as it is the officers upper that is prohib not the frame.Selling It would help pay for a commander upper 4 1/4" lenght.Colt made a pistol called the CCO concealed carry officers, wich is a officers frame and a commander lenght upper.A very nice pistol wish i had one, hope this helps.
