I recently got offered the opportunity to purchase a Colt MKIV 70 Series off of a friend. It is un-fired, and looks great. I was wondering what I should be valuing it at, and if it is indeed a great firearm to add to my collection?

Let me know your thoughts and opinions, I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, Chris

This is her, she is in "like new" condition, and is unfired. I am not sure if it is a new or original one, but maybe one of you can tell me by the looks of it?

Thanks, Chris

New production. The old models have much larger roll marks.

Some do some don't. They made both large and small print on the original MKIV Series 70.

Original S70 or new-production, if its unfired and under 1000 bucks, I'd say take it and run. Since everyone else is posting pics, I will too!

Unfired and with original packaging (and a companion-piece conversion unit), my basic S70 pistol:

That's awesome guys, your Colt 1911's are looking ###y. I am not sure if I should modify the 70 series or keep it the way she is and collect it?

I too like those 1911 colts....

With it's Norinco brother....

What did you do to that Norinco? I was thinking to buy one and do that exact same thing to it...nice bluing, clean it up, etc. I love my Series 70, but wouldn't mind a second 1911 of GI spec.
