I would love to, but no ATT makes that a little tricky. And no weekend ATT course at EESA any time soon, so we'll be waiting till the snow flies, but that's no probs, flames show up better when it's overcast out

Bushmaster...why?

No sear blocks, I'm not a criminal why treat me like one!.
Proper milspec sized hammer and trigger pins.
Proper semi auto bolt, not the half sliced version in the 6920
All you (I have one so it must be good individuals will argue the point) but I have never had an accurate 6920 barrel, all had to be switched to Armalite or Bushy barrels, that was guns whose accuracy sucked, 5 if you include wrenchgod.

And finally...proper taper pin front sights, something which Armalite cannot seem to figure out(their only downside in my opinion) besides their non captured knobs on the carry handles.

Truth........This guy does know what he is talking about!!! He has sold more colts armalites and bushmasters than any of us have ever owned!! And from his posts in the exchange for selling said items,he is picky. And why shouldnt he be!! We all spend alot of money on these toys and he is a good one to ask!! I have personally owned Armalite and Bushmaster and I like them both.Never any problems. This also includes ordering stuff from both across the border!!Both were very efficient in helping me out!!
Sparrow, You are a knowledgable guy and I respect your input!!

Get Evers to see if he can make an exception and come out and help you out extra time like. I have heard he has done it for others!

He has done it for others before, but he is waiting for a few people to make it worth his while again. I've asked enuff favours from stormbringer, so I'll wait until he has time for me.

I could introduce you to other range officers if you want!! Anything for my buddy Jamie!!! I mean, its not like you dont have a crap load of nonestricted stuff you can shoot but hey!!!!

Sparrow,

Does this problem occur with the longer barrel on the 6921. I have that model and have not fired it. I have never heard of inaccurate barrels on the 6920 or 6921.

Thanks for your input.

I guess with the access problems with colt bushy or armalite may be the way to go. I have read of quality problems with bushmaster though.

Steve.

Steve, the accuracy issues I mentioned were simply painful, Rooster33 and I tried to work through them, first was the 16.1" barrel, then with a 14.5" barrel, I simply think the 1/7" twist on the Colt's barrels we had didn't shoot. A switch to Armalite and Bushy 1/9" 14.5" barrels solved the problems. Every make is going to have issues, my recommendations on Bushmaster are simply based on actual physical characterisitics which I find advantageous.

Hammer/trigger pins - no issues with spare parts or match triggers
Uncut semi auto carrier - we all know the heavier the carrier the better the mean rounds between failures.
Taper pin front sight - this is simply the right way to do things, two sizes of straight pins are not, clamp on on a factory rifle is not...YMMV.
Unmilled sear area - this just bugs me. Again, this is all just my opinion, at days end it doesn't matter what you get as long as it works for you. Colt does some real nice things bushy does not, like MPC their bolts, for me this is a non starter(although I maintain a complete Colt group at all times), for some it is a huge plus. As I stated, my biggest issue with Armalite is the lack of taper pins. 6920s are great rifles, if it works for you great, for me it did not.

Maybe I'm misinformed, but don't the Colt AR-15s (yes, the civilian models) use certain missized parts compared to all other ARs? Larger/smaller mounting holes or something like that?

I have done some reading on the net and sparrows speculations are very matching. I cant remeber the few sources that I read but Colt is not very liked to experienced AR owners. Here is one article:

http://www.alpharubicon.com/leo/ar15sforserious.htm

They did have a bunch of miss matched AR's when they were phasing out the A1's into A2's. seeing A2 uppers with A1 lowers look quite funny.

Bushmaster specs are closest to milspec AR's according to another article.

Its too bad that sparrow had to experience these things the bad way.

The twist is very important on a barrel as it determines what type of ammo you will need to use. using 55gr in a 1/7 twist woudl be very in accurate. Maybe that is why the 1/9 bushmaster barrels are more saught after since it likes the cheap surplus ammo.

I do not have years of experience but just writing what I read.
