Just saw an ad for a Python. No price listed, and seems awfully nice......almost too nice! And yes, first time poster with zero rating......hmmmm.
1300$, seems too good to be true...
Maybe the seller will ask you to send funds to an account in south africa...![]()
It's a 12.6 prohib Python...
No trader rating. Only a CGN member for four days. I'd offer a deposit to show commitment and tell him the rest would be paid once the transfer is complete and he has an att to ship it to the post office. At least that would give the tranaction legitimacy as far as the gun goes.
Maybe although if I was selling a gun, whether I was a new or long time seller I would never complete a transfer on a gun without payment in full. Nor would I expect anyone else to. In some provinces the seller would have to wait 6 weeks or more to get paid. But that's just me....
I have sent and received EMT's larger than this before a transfer was initiated. I'm with you 100% on that. Those individuals had excellent trader ratings. I've dealt with some of the people who gave them their trader rating. It is just difficult to rationalize sending $1300 to someone who has been here for four days and has no interaction with anyone here. It is too similar to meeting a stranger on the street who says "give me $1300 and wait here. I'll bring you back a Rolex watch". There is as much chance he is legit, as not. But I'd pass on the deal or want some good indication that my investment has some protection. I have taken chances and sent money to low or no trader rating, but nowhere near that much.
Just an idea...... But what if CGN had a "new member trader" system for say the first 10 transactions when a first time member to the EE can only PURCHASE items until they reach a feedback of 10 positives? As sort of a "probation"? Then they can trade freely after that with full privilages. Will help ensure that the seller is legit, as a scammer would have to spend the time and money to purchase from 10 different sellers to achieve a score of 10. May not be 100% perfect but would weed out the vast majority of "here today gone tomorrow" money grab scams.
And not saying this is one....
The price is now 1800; that's odd...
I hear what your saying completely and I also share your sentiment. Perhaps I didn't type what I was referring to well that has a tendency to happen...... In this case with what I am proposing, the seller who has been a member of 4 days would not be a seller at all! He/she would have had to complete the 10 transactions as a BUYER only and once complete they would then have the right to sell and will have 10 positive feedbacks that will in the very least... take time.
And I don't think that system is even unfair or unreasonable for a newbie seller. In this day and age, with the internet atmosphere for scamming being what it is I would think most would be understanding if they want the privilege of selling in the EE. It seems to be a fairly logical layer of security to protect members is all. Sites will have to adapt with creative solutions is really what I am getting at. I have felt the same as you a number of times.... Seen a few items listed that I wanted in the worst way, but next to zero feedback keeps me from buying.
Noticed that...1 post and 0 Feedback Rating...I wouldn't go near it with a 10 ft pole.
Gotcha. I agree. Those with little or no feedback need to attain a level of credibility before being permitted to sell on the EE. Best way to do that is to buy on the EE.
It seems odd to me though when a member will not sell to somone with little or no feedback. Once they pay for the item, I have no worries. Or am I missing something there?
The price is now 1800; that's odd...
Wow! $1800 now. Should I buy it now before it goes to $2200 or wait til it has a 6" barrel?
